Durante la Transición democrática la prensa española fue muy importante. Un ejemplo famoso es el periódico El País que nació en 1976. Ayudó a los españoles a estar informados en esos años difíciles. Los periodistas escribían sobre diferentes temas políticos. También escribían críticas negativas sobre la dictadura que acababa de terminar. Los periódicos hablaban de un país que quería ser libre. Gracias a la prensa la gente se informaba y discutía sobre el futuro.

Translation

During the democratic Transition the Spanish press was very important. A famous example is the newspaper El País, which was born in 1976. It helped Spaniards stay informed during those difficult years. The journalists wrote about different political issues. They also wrote critical pieces about the dictatorship that had just ended. The newspapers talked about a country that wanted to be free. Thanks to the press, people informed themselves and discussed the future.
