España tiene un sistema político llamado monarquía parlamentaria. (Spain has a political system called parliamentary monarchy.)
Esto significa que hay un rey y un gobierno. (This means there is a king and a government.)
El rey representa a España en actos oficiales, pero no tiene poder para gobernar. (The king represents Spain at official acts, but he has no power to govern.)
El presidente dirige el gobierno. (The president leads the government.)
Él toma decisiones importantes con la ayuda de sus ministros. (He makes important decisions with the help of his ministers.)
El presidente pertenece a un partido político. (The president belongs to a political party.)
Los ciudadanos votan en las elecciones para elegir al presidente y a los miembros del parlamento, que se llaman Cortes Generales. (Citizens vote in elections to choose the president and the members of parliament, which are called Cortes Generales.)
El parlamento tiene dos partes: el Congreso de los Diputados y el Senado. (The parliament has two parts: the Congress of Deputies and the Senate.)
