Powierzchnię w języku polskim wyraża się w metrach kwadratowych - forma metr kwadratowy odmienia się przez przypadki i liczby.

  1. A number ending in 1 (except 11) → metr kwadratowy.
  2. A number ending in 2–4 (except 12–14) → metry kwadratowe.
  3. Number ending in 5–9, 0 or 11–14 → metrów kwadratowych.
