Exercise 1: Dialogue

Instruction: 1. Read the dialogue in pairs. 2. Memorize the phrases by covering the translation. 3. Cover one speaker’s lines, give alternative answers with your teacher, and write them down.

Pedro y Eva discuten sobre quién debe sacar la basura y cómo reciclar correctamente en casa.

Pedro and Eva argue about who should take out the rubbish and how to recycle correctly at home.
1. Pedro: ¿Has sacado la basura hoy? (Have you taken out the trash today?)
2. Ana: No, se me ha olvidado. ¿Puedes sacarla tú esta vez? (No, I forgot. Can you take it out this time?)
3. Pedro: Ahora no puedo, estoy ocupada. Hoy te toca a ti. (I can't right now, I'm busy. It's your turn today.)
4. Ana: Vale, pero ¿en qué contenedor va el plástico? (Okay, but which container does plastic go in?)
5. Pedro: El plástico va en el contenedor amarillo, y el papel en el azul. (Plastic goes in the yellow container, and paper goes in the blue one.)
6. Ana: ¿Y el vidrio? No sé dónde debería ponerlo. (And glass? I don't know where I should put it.)
7. Pedro: El vidrio se tira en el contenedor verde, como siempre. (Glass goes in the green container, as always.)
8. Ana: ¿Qué hacemos con los restos de comida? (What do we do with food scraps?)
9. Pedro: Los restos de comida van en el contenedor marrón, para materia orgánica. (Food scraps go in the brown container, for organic matter.)
10. Ana: Voy a sacar todos los desperdicios ahora mismo. (I'm going to take out all the waste right now.)
11. Pedro: Recuerda cerrar bien las bolsas antes de sacarlas. (Remember to close the bags well before taking them out.)
