In this video, Dutch people tell what they would do if their hobby became their work.

Exercise 1: Word bingo

Instruction: 1. Listen minimum two times to the video and indicate the words you hear. 2. Use the words to form a conversation with your teacher (write down your conversation). 3. Memorize the words with the word trainer.

Exercise 2: Text

Instruction: 1. Read the text in pairs. 2. Memorize the phrases by covering the translation.

Van je hobby hobby je beroep maken? Of toch maar die kantoorbaan?

Turn your hobby into your profession? Or just take that office job after all?
Van je hobby je werk maken, wat denk je? (Making your hobby your work, what do you think?)
Je kan in het weekend DJ zijn als je van muziek houdt. (You can be a DJ on the weekend if you love music.)
Dan luister je vaak naar muziek en speel je muziek af. (Then you often listen to music and play music.)
Als tekenen of schilderen je hobby is, word je kunstenaar. (If drawing or painting is your hobby, you become an artist.)
Wie een instrument bespeelt, kan muziek maken en soms concerten geven. (Whoever plays an instrument can make music and sometimes give concerts.)
Is jouw hobby politiek? Dan kan je misschien burgemeester worden. (Is your hobby politics? Then maybe you can become a mayor.)
Als je van ontwerpen houdt, maak je fietsen of speel je met Lego. (If you love designing, you make bicycles or play with Lego.)
Hou je van boeken en leren in je vrije tijd? Dan word je leraar. (Do you love books and learning in your free time? Then you become a teacher.)
Je kunt ook altijd kiezen voor de veilige optie: een kantoorbaan. (You can always choose the safe option: an office job.)
Wat je ook doet, hopelijk doe je vaak iets wat je leuk vindt. (Whatever you do, hopefully you often do something you like.)
