Note on Differences and Useful Phrases

Unlike English, German often places the verb at the end of a clause introduced by "weil", which affects sentence structure significantly. For example, "Ich bleibe zu Hause, weil es regnet." (I stay at home because it is raining.) Here the verb "regnet" is at the end of the clause after "weil."

Useful phrases to practice include:

  • "Weil ich müde bin." (Because I am tired.)
  • "Dann gehe ich nach Hause." (Then I go home.)
  • "Ich möchte auch einen Kaffee." (I also want a coffee.)
