Exercise 1: Dialogue

Instruction: 1. Read the dialogue in pairs. 2. Memorize the phrases by covering the translation. 3. Cover one speaker’s lines, give alternative answers with your teacher, and write them down.

Marco está de visita en Toledo. Está un poco perdido y necesita llegar a la estación de tren. Un señor le ayuda.

Marco is visiting Toledo. He is a bit lost and needs to get to the train station. A gentleman helps him.
1. Marco: Disculpe, ¿Dónde está la estación de trenes? (Excuse me, can you help me? I am a little lost. Where is the train station?)
2. Señor: La estación está cerca, pero hay que caminar un poco. ¿Vas andando? (Sure, don't worry. The station is nearby, but you have to walk a bit. Are you walking?)
3. Marco: Sí, voy andando, no tengo prisa. (Yes, I am walking. I am not in a hurry, I just want to find the right way.)
4. Señor: Perfecto. Sigue recto por esta calle. Vas a encontrar una plaza grande con una fuente. (Perfect. Go straight down this street. You will pass a large square with a fountain.)
5. Marco: Vale, todo recto, plaza, fuente... ¿Y después? (Okay, straight, square, fountain... And after?)
6. Señor: Después, en el segundo semáforo, gira a la izquierda. Luego sigue caminando unos cinco minutos más. (Then, at the second traffic light, turn left. Then keep walking for another five minutes.)
7. Marco: Muy bien. Cuánto se tarda en llegar? Me has dicho que no está lejos, ¿no? (Very well. Is there any sign or poster?)
8. Señor: No mucho, pero en esta parada pasa el autobús número 7 que te deja justo delante de la estación. (Yes, you will see a blue sign that says 'Central Station'. Also, many people go that way.)
9. Marco: ¡Ah, perfecto. Muchas gracias. (And how long does it take? You told me it's not far, right?)
10. Señor: De nada. Te recomiendo visitar el parque que está en el centro. Solo tienes que volver por esta calle. (Not much, but at this stop, bus number 7 passes by and it leaves you right in front of the station.)
