Bulgarian vs. English: Language Tips

Bulgarian verbs often have reflexive forms to indicate oneself engaging in an action, such as записвам (to record/sign up) and записвам се (to enroll oneself). This differs from English where the reflexive pronoun is used separately (e.g., "I sign up myself"). The word order in Bulgarian can be more flexible, often placing the verb at the beginning of the sentence in questions or statements, e.g., "Ти записа ли се?" (Did you sign up?).

Some useful phrases include:

  • Записвам се за курс – enroll in a course
  • Кога започва курсът? – When does the course start?
  • Колко струват уроците? – How much do the lessons cost?
  • Местната академия по живопис – The local painting academy
  • Споделям график – To share the schedule

Using these expressions will help you navigate practical conversations related to hobby classes and cultural activities in Bulgarian-speaking environments.
