Ana encuentra un libro de expresiones españolas mientras quiere ampliar su vocabulario. (Ana finds a book of Spanish expressions while wanting to expand her vocabulary.)
En la primera página ve la expresión “No dar pie con bola” y se pregunta qué significa. (On the first page she sees the expression “No dar pie con bola” and wonders what it means.)
Al buscar, aprende que se usa cuando alguien no acierta en nada o comete errores. (Upon looking it up, she learns that it is used when someone cannot get anything right or makes mistakes.)
Con interés, empieza a subrayar frases como “Estar en su salsa”. (With interest, she begins to underline phrases like “Estar en su salsa.”)
Esa misma tarde, prueba a usar una expresión: “Hoy no doy pie con bola”. (That same afternoon, she tries to use an expression: “Hoy no doy pie con bola.”)
Sus amigos se ríen y le explican que debe cuidar el tono para que suene natural. (Her friends laugh and explain that she needs to watch the tone for it to sound natural.)
Con cada explicación, Ana entiende mejor la importancia del contexto en el idioma. (With each explanation, Ana better understands the importance of context in the language.)
