Een man belt 112 omdat zijn moeder misschien een beroerte heeft. De centralist stelt vragen en stuurt direct een ambulance. In Nederland bel je 112 altijd bij spoed, bijvoorbeeld voor de politie, brandweer of ambulance. Je mag ook bellen als je twijfelt.
A man calls 112 because his mother might be having a stroke. The operator asks questions and immediately sends an ambulance. In the Netherlands, you always call 112 in an emergency, for example for the police, fire brigade, or ambulance. You can also call if you are unsure.

A phone call to report an emergency
1. Beller: Hallo, ik wil een noodgeval melden. (Hello, I want to report an emergency.)
2. Operator 112: U spreekt met 112, de hulpdiensten. Wat is er precies aan de hand? (You’re speaking with 112, the emergency services. What exactly is going on?)
3. Beller: Ik bel voor mijn moeder. Ze doet raar, misschien heeft ze een beroerte. (I’m calling about my mother. She’s acting strangely, maybe she’s having a stroke.)
4. Operator 112: Kunt u de situatie beschrijven? (Can you describe the situation?)

OLVG is een ziekenhuis in Amsterdam. Bij een spoedgeval kun je naar de Spoedeisende Hulp (SEH). Daar helpen artsen en verpleegkundigen mensen met ernstige klachten, bijvoorbeeld na een ongeluk of bij hevige pijn. Je kunt de SEH ook bellen; het telefoonnummer staat bij de afdeling SEH.

Bij levensgevaar bel je altijd het noodnummer 112. Dan komen de hulpdiensten, zoals de ambulance of de brandweer. Als je belt, vertel je rustig wat er is en waar je bent. Gisteren bleef iemand kalm en de hulp kwam snel.
