Pour un déjeuner à la française, on met une assiette près du bord de la table. Il faut aussi de la place pour chaque personne. On place le couteau à droite et la fourchette à gauche. Le verre est au-dessus de l'assiette. La serviette est dans l'assiette, et on peut changer la cuillère pour le dessert.

Bonjour, je vais vous montrer comment dresser une belle table pour un déjeuner à la française. (Hello, I’m going to show you how to set a beautiful table for a French-style lunch.)
Vous placez l'assiette à deux virgule cinq centimètres du bord de la table. (Place the plate 2.5 centimetres from the edge of the table.)
Il faut soixante à quatre-vingts centimètres d'espace par personne. (Allow 60 to 80 centimetres of space per person.)
Vous mettez le verre à vin et le verre à eau. (Put the wine glass and the water glass.)
Le couteau est à droite de l'assiette, en dessous du verre à vin. (The knife is to the right of the plate, beneath the wine glass.)
La fourchette est à gauche de l'assiette, dents vers la table. (The fork is to the left of the plate, tines facing down toward the table.)
La petite cuillère est en haut de l'assiette, manche vers la droite pour les droitiers. (The small spoon is above the plate, handle to the right for right-handed people.)
Pour un déjeuner classique, on met la serviette dans l'assiette. (For a classic lunch, we place the napkin on the plate.)
On peut enlever la cuillère et la remettre pour le dessert. (You can remove the spoon and put it back for dessert.)
Je rajoute le couteau et la fourchette à fromage. (I add the cheese knife and cheese fork.)
