En el sistema sanitario español, lo habitual es acudir primero al y al . Si el problema requiere atención especializada, el profesional tramita una al médico especialista. Algunas aseguradoras piden autorización previa para ciertas pruebas o consultas, según la póliza y la contratada.

La atención puede ser extramural, por ejemplo con enfermería a domicilio o seguimiento comunitario para pacientes frágiles, o intramural cuando la persona en un hospital o en una residencia. Tras la recuperación, el equipo puede y coordinar los cuidados con servicios sociales o con la aseguradora.
In the Spanish healthcare system, it is usual to go first to the health center and to your family doctor. If the problem requires specialist care, the professional arranges a referral to the specialist doctor. Some insurers require prior authorization for certain tests or appointments, depending on the policy and the coverage contracted.

Care can be extramural, for example with home nursing or community follow-up for frail patients, or intramural when the person is admitted to a hospital or a care home. After recovery, the team can discharge the patient and coordinate care with social services or with the insurer.
