Dutch A1 module 1: Jezelf voorstellen (To introduce oneself)

This is learning module 1 of 6 of our Dutch A1 syllabus. Each learning module contains 6 till 8 chapters.

Learning goals:

  • Introduce yourself and ask for information.
  • Asking basic questions.
  • Basic numbers.
  • Introduction to verbs.

A1.1 - Groeten en afscheid nemen (Greetings and Farewells)

  • Basic greetings and farewells.
  • Starting and ending a conversation.
  • Useful phrases to use during class (asking for clarification, repetition, etc.).
  • Personal pronouns (ik, jij, hij,...)

A1.2 - Je naam vertellen (Telling your name)

  • Tell your name and ask for the name of somebody
  • Titles and ways of addressing people. (Mister, miss,...)
  • Introduce yourself
  • The alphabet and pronunciation

A1.3 - Waar kom je vandaan? (Where are you from?)

  • Ask somebody where they are from
  • Say your nationality
  • Definite and indefinite articles (de, het, een)
  • The noun (singular & plural)

A1.4 - Getallen en tellen (Numbers and counting)

  • Learn to count
  • Numbers from 1-100
  • Cardinal numbers

A1.5 - Familie (Family)

  • Introduce and tell about your family.
  • Ask someone about their family. (size, structure,...)
  • The possessive pronouns (mijn, jouw, zijn,...)

A1.6 - Je leeftijd zeggen (Saying your age)

  • Asking somebody's age
  • Say how old you are and when your birthday is
  • Question words (hoe, hoeveel, waar, wanneer)

A1.7 - Beroepen en studies (Professions and studies)

  • Describe your profession
  • Ask somebody's profession
  • Talk about studies
  • Question words (wie, wat, welk(e))

A1.8 - Adres en contactgegevens (Address and contact details)

  • Asking for and giving contact details.
  • Tell and ask for addresses.
  • Present simple tense: regular verbs
  • Main clauses and yes/no questions
