After a stroke or an injury it is important to recognize the symptoms: numbness, loss of balance, or difficulty moving an arm. If the symptoms change, inform the nurse or the doctor immediately.
At the follow-up visit the physiotherapist performs a functional assessment and updates the recovery plan. For transfers from the bed to the chair, use assistive devices (walker, crutch, or wheelchair) and ask for help to reposition the person safely.

Dott.ssa Rinaldi (neurologa): Show Buongiorno Marco, oggi facciamo la visita di controllo: come sta la mobilità in questi giorni?
(Good morning Marco, today we’re doing the follow-up visit: how is your mobility these days?)
Marco (paziente): Show Un po' meglio, però ho ancora intorpidimento alla mano destra e ieri ho avuto una perdita di equilibrio quando mi sono alzato.
(A bit better, but I still have numbness in my right hand and yesterday I had a loss of balance when I got up.)
Dott.ssa Rinaldi (neurologa): Show Capisco. Hai notato altri sintomi neurologici, per esempio debolezza o episodi di paralisi anche brevi?
(I understand. Have you noticed any other neurological symptoms, for example weakness or episodes of paralysis, even brief ones?)
Marco (paziente): Show Paralisi no, ma la gamba destra si stanca presto e a casa uso ancora la stampella per camminare.
(No paralysis, but my right leg gets tired quickly and at home I still use the crutch to walk.)
Dott.ssa Rinaldi (neurologa): Show D'accordo: dalla valutazione funzionale di oggi penso sia meglio usare anche il deambulatore in casa e intensificare la fisioterapia nel piano di recupero. Ci rivediamo tra due settimane per un nuovo controllo.
(All right: based on today’s functional assessment I think it’s better to also use the walker at home and to intensify physiotherapy in the recovery plan. We’ll see each other again in two weeks for another check-up.)
