Differences Between English and Bulgarian Expressions

In Bulgarian, the personal preference is often expressed with the verb обичам, which means "I love" or "I like," depending on context, whereas English commonly uses "like" for preferences. Bulgarian also tends to use the construction "да" plus the verb (infinitive) after the verb обичам, e.g., "Аз обичам да рисувам" (I love to paint), which differs from the English gerund or infinitive usage.

Another point is the use of definite and indefinite forms and word order, which can vary from English but is used consistently in Bulgarian to emphasize certain elements.

Examples of conversational phrases you will practice include asking others about their hobbies and describing your own activities naturally and confidently.
