Bulgarian vs. English Language Notes
Unlike English, Bulgarian uses the Cyrillic alphabet, and nouns have definite forms ending with suffixes – for example, "прахосмукачка" (vacuum cleaner) becomes "прахосмукачката" when definite. Also, Bulgarian uses postfixed definite articles, which is a key structural difference. Word order can be more flexible than in English.
Useful phrases to remember include:
- Може ли – "Can I" or "Could you" – used to ask politely.
- Къде е – "Where is" – asking about location.
- Трябва да – "Need to" – expressing necessity.
