Dr. Ana Silva kommt aus Portugal und möchte in Deutschland als Zahnärztin arbeiten. Sie hat schon eine in einer Praxis in Köln gefunden, aber sie darf noch nicht sofort anfangen. So bleibt sie auf dem Laufenden und versteht, was die Regeln für ihre neue Stelle in Deutschland bedeuten.
Dr. Ana Silva is from Portugal and would like to work in Germany as a dentist. She has already found a job at a practice in Cologne, but she cannot start right away. First, she must register with the Dental Association. For the registration she needs her dentist diploma, a certified copy, a German translation and her passport. In addition, she must complete an application form and pay a fee.

The Dental Association reviews all documents and decides on the professional licence. Only when the registration is approved can Dr. Silva sign the employment contract. The contract specifies the working hours, the salary and the probationary period. The contract is initially limited to one year. Dr. Silva reads the contract carefully and asks questions before she signs. This way she stays informed and understands what the rules for her new position in Germany mean.

thank you for your registration in the national register for dentists of the State Dental Association Berlin.

We have reviewed your documents. For the licensing procedure and the recognition of your foreign qualifications, the following documents are still missing:

  • certified copy of your training certificates (diploma, transcripts)
  • current certificate of conduct (police clearance)
  • health certificate (medical certificate, not older than 3 months)
  • clear copy of your passport
  • your German tax identification number
  • proof of your social insurance in Germany

Please submit these documents by 30/06 by post or as a PDF by email. Only once we have received all documents can we confirm your professional permit or your license to practise as a dentist.

In addition, we are sending you a draft of your employment contract with the dental clinic “Smile Berlin” as an attachment. The contract is initially fixed-term for one year. The probationary period is 6 months. The notice period during this time is 2 weeks.

Ich habe einige Fragen zu den fehlenden Unterlagen:

– Für das Führungszeugnis: Muss ich ein deutsches Führungszeugnis schicken, oder ist ein Führungszeugnis aus meinem Heimatland auch möglich?
– Die Gesundheitsbescheinigung: Reicht eine Bescheinigung von meinem Hausarzt in Deutschland, oder brauche ich ein spezielles Formular von der Kammer?
– Zur Steueridentifikationsnummer: Ich habe sie schon beantragt, aber ich habe sie noch nicht bekommen. Kann ich die Nummer später nachreichen?

Außerdem habe ich Fragen zum Arbeitsvertrag. Die Probezeit von 6 Monaten ist für mich in Ordnung. Können Sie mir bitte noch einmal genau erklären, wie hoch die Vergütung ist und ob es zum Gehalt noch Zulagen oder Fortbildungen gibt?

I have a few questions about the missing documents:

– For the certificate of conduct: Do I need to send a German certificate of conduct, or is a certificate from my home country also acceptable?
– The health certificate: Is a certificate from my general practitioner in Germany sufficient, or do I need a specific form from the association?
– Regarding the tax identification number: I have already applied for it but have not received it yet. Can I submit the number later?

I also have questions about the employment contract. The 6-month probationary period is acceptable to me. Could you please clarify the exact amount of the remuneration and whether there are any allowances or training opportunities in addition to the salary?

I will read the contract carefully over the next few days. After that I will sign it and send it back to you.
