Patient information: Removable dentures are a common type of dental prosthesis. A partial denture replaces individual missing teeth. Often it contains metal parts with clasps; this is called a cast partial denture (Modellgussprothese). It is generally sturdy, but the clasps can be visible. A denture made of acrylic is often lighter and more affordable, but it may break more easily. A full denture is for patients who have no natural teeth. Good retention and comfort when wearing the denture are important; sometimes an adhesive can help.

Care: Remove the denture and clean it regularly with a denture brush and lukewarm water. Do not use hot water, as the material can deform. Rinse your mouth and gently massage the gums. At night keep the denture clean and either dry or stored in a container according to the instructions. If you develop pressure points or have difficulty chewing, come in for a check-up; the denture can be adjusted.
