(An Incident on the Ward)
Frau Keller ist Krankenpflegerin in einem Krankenhaus in München. Es ist Spätdienst. Sie arbeitet heute auf der internistischen Station.

Ms. Keller remains calm and speaks slowly to the patient. She says, “I’ll quickly get some juice and glucose.” The patient drinks the juice. Ms. Keller continues to observe him. After a few minutes he feels better. He says, “Thank you, I’m already feeling better.”
Later Ms. Keller goes to the computer. She documents the incident in the digital patient record. She notes: time, symptoms, action taken and the patient’s response. After that she informs the doctor and gives a brief report of the emergency.
During the handover at the end of the shift Ms. Keller tells her colleagues about the incident. That way the team is informed and can react quickly in an emergency.
