Ich heiße Maria Keller und ich arbeite seit zwei Jahren in einem großen in München. Ich bin Gesundheits- und auf der internistischen .

Ich habe in Berlin meine gemacht und den vor drei Jahren bekommen. Vor diesem Job habe ich schon ein Jahr in einem kleinen Krankenhaus gesammelt. Jetzt gefällt mir meine Arbeit sehr gut, weil ich viel lernen kann.

Unsere Station liegt im dritten Stock. Wir haben zwölf , ein Behandlungszimmer und ein kleines Untersuchungszimmer. In jedem Patientenzimmer stehen zwei Betten, ein Nachttisch pro Bett und ein Monitor. Wenn ein Patient nicht gut laufen kann, benutzen wir einen oder eine Liege.

Ich trage im Dienst immer : eine weiße Hose, eine Tunika und bequeme Sicherheitsschuhe. Auf der Isolationsstation tragen wir zusätzlich Schutzkleidung, Handschuhe und manchmal eine Schutzbrille.

Mein Arbeitstag beginnt meistens um sechs Uhr morgens. Zuerst lese ich die Patientenakten und den Dienstplan. Dann mache ich mit dem Arzt Visite. Wir sprechen über die Patienten, über die Infusionen und über neue Untersuchungen, zum Beispiel EKG. Später pflege ich die Patienten, messe den Blutdruck und helfe bei der Körperpflege. Am Ende der Schicht bereite ich die Übergabe für die nächste Schicht vor.
My name is Maria Keller and I have been working for two years in a large hospital in Munich. I am a nurse on the internal medicine ward.

I completed my training in Berlin and received my diploma three years ago. Before this job, I gained one year of professional experience in a small hospital. Now I enjoy my work very much because I can learn a lot.

Our ward is on the third floor. We have twelve patient rooms, a treatment room and a small examination room. In each patient room there are two beds, one bedside table per bed and a monitor. If a patient cannot walk well, we use a wheelchair or a stretcher.

On duty I always wear work clothes: white trousers, a tunic and comfortable safety shoes. In the isolation ward we also wear protective clothing, gloves and sometimes protective goggles.

My workday usually starts at six in the morning. First I read the patient records and the duty roster. Then I do rounds with the doctor. We talk about the patients, the infusions and any new tests, for example an ECG. Later I care for the patients, measure blood pressure and help with personal hygiene. At the end of the shift I prepare the handover for the next team.

Starting next week you will work an additional shift in the emergency department. The new shift is on Thursday from 2:00 PM to 10:00 PM.

You will work there with a colleague at the patient intake. You will check the patients' information, create the patient record, and bring patients from the waiting room into the examination room or the treatment room. Please remember the protective clothing (gown, gloves and mask) and safety shoes.

I know that you completed your training in internal medicine, but working in the emergency department is also very important for your qualification as a nursing specialist. If you have any questions about the department or finding your way around the ward, please get in touch.
