(Information sheet: Data protection and ethical conduct in nursing)

Auf unserer Station hat die der Patientinnen und Patienten Vorrang. Informationen aus der Pflegedokumentation werden behandelt und nur im Behandlungsteam weitergegeben. Gespräche über Diagnosen, Risiken oder sollten nicht im Flur oder im Aufzug geführt werden. Angehörige erhalten Auskunft nur, wenn eine vorliegt oder die Patientin bzw. der Patient dies ausdrücklich wünscht.

Bei Unsicherheit fragen Sie nach und dokumentieren Sie kurz, was besprochen wurde. und zeigen sich im Alltag: anklopfen, Vorhänge schließen, den Namen korrekt nennen und Entscheidungen erklären. Wird eine Maßnahme , prüfen Sie, ob die Person informiert und ob die Entscheidung die Sicherheit gefährdet. Bei Konflikten orientieren Sie sich an den Patientenrechten, an rechtlichen Vorgaben und an unseren ; melden Sie kritische Ereignisse oder mögliche Fehler frühzeitig an die zuständige Fachkraft.
On our ward, patients’ privacy takes priority. Information from nursing records is treated confidentially and is shared only within the care team. Conversations about diagnoses, risks, or side effects should not take place in the corridor or in the elevator. Relatives are given information only if consent has been granted or the patient explicitly wishes it.

If you are unsure, ask and briefly document what was discussed. Respect and dignity are shown in everyday actions: knock before entering, close curtains, use the correct name, and explain decisions. If an intervention is refused, check whether the person understands the information and agrees, and whether the decision compromises safety. In case of conflicts, follow patient rights, legal requirements, and our quality standards; report critical incidents or possible errors early to the responsible professional.

Heute hatte ich auf Station eine Situation, die mich an unsere Berufsethik erinnert hat. Eine Kollegin wollte im Flur laut über die Diagnose von Frau K. sprechen. Ich bat sie, das ins Dienstzimmer zu verlegen, wegen der Privatsphäre und der Schweigepflicht. Später lehnte Frau K. eine neue Schmerztablette ab. Ich erklärte ihr mögliche Nebenwirkungen und sagte, dass die Tablette nur nach ihrer Einwilligung gegeben wird. Am Ende dokumentierte ich alles und meldete den Vorfall für die Qualitätsstandards.

ich habe die Situation gestern ähnlich erlebt: Die Tochter fragte laut im Flur nach den Laborwerten, sodass andere Patienten alles hören konnten. Ich fand das problematisch wegen der Privatsphäre und der Schweigepflicht.

Beim nächsten Mal schlage ich vor, die Angehörigen freundlich ins Zimmer oder in einen Besprechungsraum zu bitten. I experienced the situation similarly yesterday: the daughter asked loudly in the corridor about the lab results so that other patients could hear everything. I found this problematic because of privacy and the duty of confidentiality.

Next time I suggest politely asking relatives to come into the patient’s room or to a private meeting room. Before sharing any information, we should ask Mr. Krüger directly for his consent. If he does not agree, we should explain this calmly and offer to speak with him personally at a later time.
