In de tandartspraktijk kan een kroon worden gebruikt om een tand of kies te beschermen als die verzwakt is. De kroon is een kapje van metaal of porselein en wordt op maat gemaakt en vastgelijmd. Als er tanden ontbreken, kan de tandarts een brug plaatsen met daartussen kunsttanden. Zo blijft er geen lege plek en kunt u weer goed bijten en kauwen.

Een kroon is een stevig kapje, gemaakt van metaal of porselein, dat als vervanging over uw tand of kies wordt geplaatst. (A crown is a sturdy cap, made of metal or porcelain, that is placed over your tooth or molar as a replacement.)
