You want to work as a dentist in the Netherlands. To do that, you must be registered in the BIG register. On the government website you can find which documents you need. You upload a copy of your diploma, your passport and proof of diploma recognition. You also complete an online form with your address, telephone number and e-mail.

After you submit the application, you will receive a letter with your BIG number. Sometimes the government also asks for a Certificate of Conduct (VOG) and proof of your professional liability insurance. If you work as an employee, the employer will often ask for a copy of your employment contract. Keep all letters and e-mails safe; you will need them later if you change jobs or need to register again.
