Protocol for the admission of new patients

De rol van een tandartsassistente is om de rechterhand van de tandarts te zijn. Zij bereidt vóór elke behandeling de benodigde apparatuur voor en assisteert aan de stoel door op het juiste moment de instrumenten aan te reiken.
The role of a dental assistant is to be the dentist’s right hand. She prepares the required equipment before each treatment and assists at the chair by handing over the instruments at the right moment.

In een tandartspraktijk werkt Diana als assistent in een groot team. De collega’s bij de receptie helpen patiënten en ondersteunen de tandarts. Diana bereidt de behandelkamer voor en ruimt die daarna op. Gebruikte instrumenten gaan in het traykastje en worden later opgehaald en schoongemaakt. Assistenten maken ook foto's in de röntgenkamer en je kunt doorgroeien tot preventieassistent.

1. Tandarts: Hallo, we gaan een protocol maken voor de ontvangst van nieuwe patiënten. (Hello, we are going to create a protocol for receiving new patients.)
2. Assistente: Prima. Wat zijn precies mijn taken? (Fine. What exactly are my tasks?)
3. Tandarts: Eerst ontvangt u de patiënt bij de balie en geeft u hem of haar het anamneseformulier. (First you receive the patient at the reception desk and give him or her the medical history form.)
4. Assistente: Moet de patiënt dit hier invullen? (Does the patient have to fill this in here?)
5. Tandarts: Ja. De patiënt vult zijn of haar persoonlijke en medische gegevens in en tekent daarna het toestemmingsformulier voor de behandeling. (Yes. The patient fills in his or her personal and medical details and then signs the consent form for the treatment.)
