In de behandelkamer hangt een korte poster om tanden snel te benoemen. De tand heeft drie lagen: het is de harde buitenlaag, daaronder ligt het en in het midden bevindt zich de met bloedvaten en zenuwen. De bovenkant van de tand noemen we de ; onder het tandvlees zit de met aan het eind de .

In the treatment room there is a short poster for quickly naming teeth. The tooth has three layers: the enamel is the hard outer layer, beneath that is the dentine, and in the middle is the pulp chamber containing blood vessels and nerves. The top of the tooth is called the crown; below the gum is the root, which ends in the apex.

For numbering we often use the FDI system in the Netherlands: first the quadrant, then the tooth number. In the upper right quadrant the teeth are 11 through 18 (incisor, canine, premolar, molar). In the lower left quadrant the teeth are 31 through 38. Always record a brief finding, for example “cold sensitive” or “receded gum.”
