Dans un cabinet dentaire, le praticien accueille un patient qui a mal à une dent. Il met une petite protection et pose des questions : la douleur est-elle récente, continue, ou liée au chaud ou au froid ? Ensuite, il examine la bouche avec un miroir et une sonde. Il explique les instruments, comme la turbine qui fait du bruit, puis il commence le soin calmement.

Bonjour, venez avec moi. (Hello, come with me.)

Voilà, je vous mets une petite protection. (There you go, I’ll put a small protective cover on you.)
Alors, vous venez me voir parce que vous avez mal à la dent ? (So, you’re coming to see me because you have a toothache?)
Cette douleur est-elle récente ou ancienne ? (Is this pain recent or old?)
Est-ce une douleur continue ou liée au chaud ou au froid ? (Is it a continuous pain or is it related to heat or cold?)
Pouvez-vous localiser précisément la dent ? D'accord, on va regarder. (Can you pinpoint exactly which tooth? Okay, we’ll take a look.)
Je vais utiliser un miroir et une sonde pour examiner votre dent. (I’m going to use a mirror and a probe to examine your tooth.)
Avant de commencer, je vous présente les instruments. (Before we start, I’ll show you the instruments.)
La turbine fait du bruit, mais elle ne fait pas mal et sert à nettoyer la dent. (The drill makes noise, but it doesn’t hurt and is used to clean the tooth.)

1. Le patient: Bonjour, bienvenue à la clinique. C'est votre première visite ici ? (Hello, welcome to the clinic. Is this your first visit here?)
2. Le dentiste: Oui, docteur. Je suis un peu nerveuse, je n'aime pas trop les dentistes. (Yes, doctor. I'm a bit nervous, I don't really like dentists.)
3. Le patient: Avez-vous rempli le questionnaire médical ? (Have you filled out the medical questionnaire?)
4. Le dentiste: Oui, je l'ai complété tout à l'heure dans la salle d'attente. (Yes, I completed it earlier in the waiting room.)
5. Le patient: Parfait. Nous allons faire un examen clinique avec un miroir buccal, une sonde et des pinces. (Perfect. We are going to do a clinical examination with an oral mirror, a probe, and forceps.)
6. Le dentiste: Est-ce que ça va faire mal ? (Is it going to hurt?)
7. Le patient: Non, pas du tout. Je vais seulement examiner votre bouche, puis je vous expliquerai le diagnostic. (No, not at all. I'm only going to examine your mouth, then I will explain the diagnosis to you.)
8. Le dentiste: D'accord. (Okay.)
9. Le patient: Ensuite, nous préparerons un plan de traitement et l'assistante vous expliquera le devis. (Then, we will prepare a treatment plan and the assistant will explain the estimate to you.)
