Le rôle d’une assistante dentaire consiste à être le véritable bras droit du dentiste. Elle prépare le matériel nécessaire avant chaque soin et l’assiste au fauteuil en lui transmettant les instruments au bon moment.
The role of a dental assistant is to be the dentist's right-hand person. She prepares the necessary equipment before each treatment and assists at the chair by handing over the instruments at the right moment.

Mon rôle comme assistante dentaire est d’aider le dentiste. (My role as a dental assistant is to help the dentist.)
Je prépare le matériel et je l’aide au fauteuil pendant les soins. (I prepare the equipment and help them into the chair during the treatment.)
Je m’occupe aussi des prothèses, des contacts avec les laboratoires et de la stérilisation. (I also take care of prosthetics, liaising with the laboratories, and sterilisation.)
Après avoir allumé le cabinet, on commence par la stérilisation. (After turning on the cabinet, we start with sterilisation.)
L’autoclave fonctionne un peu comme un lave-vaisselle : il nettoie les instruments. (The autoclave works a bit like a dishwasher: it cleans the instruments.)
Ensuite, on trie le matériel : miroirs, sondes, pinces et spatules. (Next, we sort the equipment: mirrors, probes, forceps and spatulas.)
Il peut rester des saletés, alors on les nettoie avec de l’alcool. (There may be some dirt left, so we clean it with alcohol.)
Le travail est stressant si le dentiste est stressé aussi. (Work is stressful if the dentist is stressed too.)
Il faut gérer son stress et celui des patients. (You have to manage your stress and that of the patients.)
Il faut être très attentive et solide mentalement. (You have to be very attentive and mentally strong.)
Après le nettoyage, on met les instruments dans des sachets. (After cleaning, the instruments are put in bags.)
Puis, on les place dans l’autoclave qui chauffe jusqu’à 134°C. (Then, they are placed in the autoclave which heats up to 134°C.)
Il faut faire attention car on peut se brûler facilement. (You have to be careful because you can easily get burned.)
Enfin, tout est vérifié et stérilisé une deuxième fois pour garantir l’hygiène. (Finally, everything is checked and sterilised a second time to ensure hygiene.)

1. Dentiste: Bonjour, nous allons organiser un protocole pour accueillir les nouveaux patients. (Hello, we are going to organize a procedure to welcome new patients.)
2. Assistant: Très bien, docteur. Quelles sont exactement mes tâches ? (Very well, doctor. What exactly are my tasks?)
3. Dentiste: D'abord, vous accueillez le patient à la réception et vous lui donnez la fiche d'anamnèse. (First, you welcome the patient at reception and give them the medical history form.)
4. Assistant: Le patient doit la remplir ici ? (Does the patient have to fill it out here?)
5. Dentiste: Oui, il remplit ses informations personnelles et médicales, puis il signe le consentement pour la protection des données. (Yes, they fill in their personal and medical information, then sign the consent form for data protection.)
6. Assistant: D'accord. Une fois que c'est fait, je le place en salle d'attente ? (Alright. Once that is done, should I seat them in the waiting room?)
7. Dentiste: Oui, exactement. Ensuite, je viendrai le chercher pour l'emmener jusqu'au fauteuil dentaire. (Yes, exactly. Then I will come to get them and take them to the dental chair.)
8. Assistant: Et la première étape du rendez-vous, c'est la radiographie ? (And the first step of the appointment is the X-ray?)
9. Dentiste: Oui, je prendrai une orthopantomographie pour avoir une vue d'ensemble de la bouche. (Yes, I will take a panoramic X-ray to get an overall view of the mouth.)
10. Assistant: Parfait. Et après la consultation ? (Perfect. And after the consultation?)
11. Dentiste: Je vous expliquerai le plan de traitement et vous présenterez le devis au patient pour qu'il soit prêt. (I will explain the treatment plan to you, and you will present the cost estimate to the patient so they are prepared.)
12. Assistant: Très bien, j'expliquerai le devis au patient en fonction de sa mutuelle et de la Sécurité sociale. (Very well, I will explain the cost estimate to the patient based on their insurance and social security.)
13. Dentiste: Exactement. Pendant ce temps, je noterai dans le dossier les prochains rendez-vous et leur durée. (Exactly. Meanwhile, I will note the next appointments and their duration in the file.)
14. Assistant: Parfait, je fixerai les rendez-vous suivant vos indications au patient. (Perfect, I will schedule the appointments according to your instructions for the patient.)
