Dr Martin est un jeune chirurgien-dentiste dans un cabinet à Lyon. Ce matin, il voit Mme Lopez pour une forte douleur après une extraction dentaire. Après l’examen, il décide de prescrire un antibiotique et un antidouleur. Il vérifie d’abord les de la patiente et lui demande si elle prend déjà d’autres .
Sur l’ , il écrit : « Amoxicilline 1 g, 1 toutes les 8 heures pendant 7 jours » et « Paracétamol 500 mg, 1 à 2 comprimés si douleur, maximum 6 par jour ». This morning he sees Mrs. Lopez for severe pain after a tooth extraction. After examining her, he decides to prescribe an antibiotic and a pain reliever. He first checks the patient’s allergies and asks whether she is already taking any other medications.
On the prescription he writes: "Amoxicillin 1 g, 1 tablet every 8 hours for 7 days" and "Paracetamol 500 mg, 1 to 2 tablets if in pain, maximum 6 per day." He indicates the duration of the treatment, the route of administration (oral), and specifies: "avoid alcohol." He then calmly explains the possible effects of the treatment and the main contraindications. Mrs. Lopez understands and asks a few questions before signing and thanking the doctor.

Exercise 5: Writing exercise
Instruction: In 4 or 5 sentences, write a short note to a patient explaining how to take a medication after dental treatment.

Exercice 6: Conversation exercise
Instruction:
- Une femme enceinte adulte se présente en urgence au cabinet dentaire pour une douleur intense. (An adult pregnant woman comes to the dental clinic urgently due to intense pain.)
- Quel médicament prescririez-vous pour soulager les symptômes ? (What medication would you prescribe to relieve the symptoms?)
- Si elle est allergique à la pénicilline, quelle alternative proposeriez-vous ? (If she is allergic to penicillin, what would be your alternative?)
- Expliquez comment vous rédigeriez l’ordonnance pour les deux exemples. (Explain how you would write the prescription for both examples.)
