After fitting the denture, explain hygiene: rinse after meals, brush the denture in the evening, and keep it dry in a clean box. In case of pain, clasps that hurt, or a denture that moves, plan an adjustment or a reline.

Choisir une prothèse amovible

Pour M. Martin, je pense que la prothèse partielle en résine est la meilleure option pour commencer, car ses dents restantes sont fragiles. Le stellite est plus fin et plus solide, mais il nécessite des appuis dentaires stables.
On peut expliquer simplement au patient que la résine est plus facile à modifier si une dent doit être extraite plus tard, et que l'armature métallique (stellite) donne plus de stabilité si les dents sont solides.
Conseils d'hygiène : il faut nettoyer la prothèse chaque jour avec une brosse et un savon doux, rincer à l'eau claire et la laisser à l'air la nuit. Il ne faut pas utiliser de dentifrice abrasif ni d'eau très chaude.

Hello Dr Girard,
For Mr Martin, I think the resin partial denture is the best option to start with, because his remaining teeth are fragile. The stellite is thinner and stronger, but it requires stable dental support.
We can explain to the patient simply that resin is easier to modify if a tooth has to be extracted later, and that the metal framework (stellite) provides more stability if the teeth are strong.
Hygiene advice: the denture should be cleaned every day with a brush and mild soap, rinsed with clean water and left to air-dry at night. You must not use abrasive toothpaste or very hot water.
