(What do bacteria do at the beginning of a cavity?)

(Which part can cause severe pain if the infection reaches the pulp?)

3. Quelle action aide à éviter un abcès ?

(Which action helps to avoid an abscess?)

A dialogue between a dentist and a patient about cavities
(We are going to examine your teeth to see if there are any cavities.)
2. Le patient: Docteur, comment apparaissent les caries ? (Doctor, how do cavities appear?)
(Bad bacteria develop and attack the tooth. They cause demineralization.)
(How do you know whether there is a cavity or not?)
(I need my exploration kit and to take X-rays to confirm the diagnosis.)
(And if you find one, what will you do?)
(First, we remove the cavity with the turbine and the contra-angle.)
(Will there be a hole left in the tooth?)
(No, we are going to fill the cavity preparation with composite. The composite will harden thanks to the light-curing lamp.)
(Will the tooth be in good condition afterward?)
(Yes, the filling will look nice and be very smooth thanks to the abrasive discs.)

(What examinations does the dentist use to confirm the diagnosis?)

(What does the dentist do after removing the cavity?)
