Yesterday we completed the endodontic treatment (root canal) on your upper left molar, tooth 26. The canals have been cleaned and filled with gutta-percha and an endodontic sealer.

Here are some instructions:

  • For 2–3 days, the tooth may be sensitive when chewing. This is normal.
  • Take a simple painkiller if you have pain (for example paracetamol), and do not exceed the recommended dose.
  • Avoid eating hard foods on that tooth until the permanent crown is placed.
  • Maintain good oral hygiene: brush gently around the treated tooth.

Warning: contact us promptly if:

  • the pain becomes very severe and does not improve with medication,
  • you notice swelling of the cheek or gum,
  • you have a fever.

We recommend a follow-up appointment in 10 to 15 days to check the occlusion (contact with the lower teeth) and to discuss the permanent restoration (inlay/onlay or crown).

Aujourd’hui je me sens assez bien. J’ai une petite douleur quand je mâche sur la dent 26, mais ce n’est pas très fort. Je prends du paracétamol une ou deux fois par jour et ça va. Je n’ai pas de gonflement et pas de fièvre.

J’ai bien compris les consignes : je ne mange pas d’aliments durs sur cette dent, je me brosse les dents doucement et je vous contacte si la douleur devient très forte.

Je suis disponible pour un rendez-vous de contrôle le mardi ou le jeudi après-midi, à partir de 15h. Dites-moi, s’il vous plaît, quel jour et quelle heure vous conviennent.

Today I feel fairly well. I have slight pain when I chew on tooth 26, but it is not very strong. I take paracetamol once or twice a day and it helps. I have no swelling and no fever.
