Exercise 1: Dialogue

Instruction: 1. Read the dialogue in pairs. 2. Memorize the phrases by covering the translation. 3. Cover one speaker’s lines, give alternative answers with your teacher, and write them down.

Maëva raconte son weekend à son père.

Maëva tells her weekend to her father.
1. Jean: Salut ma fille, ça va bien ? (Hi my daughter, how are you?)
2. Maëva: Oui, ça va, merci ! Et toi, comment ça va ? (Yes, I'm fine, thanks! And you, how are you?)
3. Jean: Moi aussi ça va. Qu'est-ce que tu as fait le week-end dernier ? (I'm fine too. What did you do last weekend?)
4. Maëva: Je suis allée au musée avec ta mère. On a vu des peintures de Claude Monet. (I went to the museum with your mother. We saw paintings by Claude Monet.)
5. Jean: Ah, super ! Et ta mère, qu'est-ce qu'elle en a pensé ? (Oh, great! And what did your mother think about it?)
6. Maëva: Elle a préféré les tableaux de Picasso. La prochaine fois, c'est elle qui choisira où on va. (She preferred Picasso's paintings. Next time, she'll choose where we go.)
7. Jean: Ah, l'art, ce n'est pas trop son truc à ta mère, alors ? (Ah, art is not really your mother's thing, then?)
8. Maëva: Oui, c'est ça ! Et toi, qu'est-ce que tu as fait ? Je ne t'ai pas vue partir samedi. (Yes, that's right! And you, what did you do? I didn't see you leave on Saturday.)
9. Jean: Je suis allée à un concert. Je suis partie assez tôt et je suis arrivée à 18 heures. (I went to a concert. I left quite early and arrived at 6 PM.)
10. Maëva: Ah bon ? C'était quel groupe ? (Oh really? What was the band?)
11. Jean: Un groupe avec un piano et une guitare. (A band with a piano and a guitar.)
12. Maëva: C'est différent de ce que tu écoutes d'habitude, non ? (That's different from what you usually listen to, isn't it?)
13. Jean: Oui, mais ma chanteuse préférée est venue chanter une chanson. Je devais y aller ! (Yes, but my favorite singer came to sing a song. I had to go!)
14. Maëva: Ah d'accord, je comprends. (Ah, okay, I understand.)
