At Adolfo Suárez–Madrid Barajas airport many people travel to the city center by public transport. To get to their hotel, many people take the metro to Nuevos Ministerios and then change lines. Other tourists prefer the bus because they can see the city from the window.

In Madrid it’s common to take the metro to work, travel by train to other cities, and use the bus to get around neighborhoods. Some people go by bicycle or on foot if they live nearby. It’s usually not recommended to drive into the city center because of traffic and the difficulty of parking.

bienvenida a Madrid. Normalmente yo voy en metro desde el aeropuerto: es rápido y barato. Toma la línea de metro que llega a Nuevos Ministerios y allí cambia a la línea que va a Sol. El viaje dura más o menos 35 minutos.

Si estás muy cansada, puedes coger un taxi desde el aeropuerto; es más cómodo pero más caro. También hay autobuses al centro que son más baratos, pero tardan un poco más.

welcome to Madrid. I usually take the metro from the airport: it's fast and cheap. Take the metro line that goes to Nuevos Ministerios and there change to the line that goes to Sol. The trip takes about 35 minutes.

If you're very tired, you can take a taxi from the airport; it's more comfortable but more expensive. There are also buses to the city centre that are cheaper, but they take a bit longer.
