Exercise 1: Dialogue

Instruction: 1. Read the dialogue in pairs. 2. Memorize the phrases by covering the translation. 3. Cover one speaker’s lines, give alternative answers with your teacher, and write them down.

Pedro pregunta a María si tiene planes o puede ir en el cine con ella.

Pedro asks María if she has plans or if she can go to the cinema with him.
1. Pedro: Oye, ¿tienes planes para esta tarde? (Hey, do you have plans for this afternoon?)
2. María: Quería ir al cine, ¿vienes conmigo? (I wanted to go to the movies, will you come with me?)
3. Pedro: No puedo, ya he quedado con unas amigas. ¿Quieres venir con nosotras? (I can't, I have already made plans with some friends. Do you want to come with us?)
4. María: ¿Qué vais a hacer? (I don't know, what are you going to do?)
5. Pedro: Vamos a preparar algo de cena juntas. (We are going to prepare some dinner together.)
6. María: ¿Dónde vais a cocinar? (Perfect, where are you going to cook?)
7. Pedro: En casa de Laura, tiene una cocina muy grande. (At Laura's house, she has a very big kitchen.)
8. María: ¿Quiénes más vais a venir? (Who else is going to come?)
9. Pedro: Marta y Carmen también van a ayudar. (Marta and Carmen are also going to help.)
10. María: ¿A qué hora empezáis? (What time are you going to start?)
11. Pedro: Sobre las seis de la tarde, más o menos. ¿Vienes o no? (Around six in the afternoon, more or less. Are you coming or not?)
12. María: Sí, es un buen plan. ¡Gracias! (Yes, it's a good plan. Thanks!)
