After Maurice and Clara meet on the bus, they talk about what they do for work.

8. Frieda: Ich bin selbstständig. (I am self-employed.)
9. Maurice: Und wie viel verdient eine selbstständige Ingenieurin? (And how much does a self-employed engineer earn?)
10. Frieda: Das ist unterschiedlich. Es hängt vom Monat ab. (That varies. It depends on the month.)
