In den nächsten Tagen haben wir im Wetter eine Mischung aus Winter und Frühling. (Over the next few days we'll see a mix of winter and spring conditions.)
Zuerst gibt es Regen, Sturm und wärmeres Wetter. (At first there will be rain, gusty winds and some warmer weather.)
Nächste Woche wird es wieder kälter. (Next week it will turn colder again.)
Das heißt, der Frühling kommt in Deutschland noch nicht richtig. (That means spring hasn't really arrived in Germany yet.)
Schauen wir uns jetzt die Wetterkarte für heute, den Mittwoch, genauer an. (Now let's take a closer look at the weather map for today, Wednesday.)
Wir sehen, dass das Hoch "Cloe" sich zurückzieht. (We can see that the high-pressure area 'Cloe' is moving away.)
Im Südwesten ist es bis zu 11 Grad warm. (In the southwest it will be as warm as 11 degrees Celsius.)
Insgesamt gibt es Sonne und Wolken und meistens ist es trocken. (Overall there will be sun and clouds, and mostly dry conditions.)
Im Rest von Deutschland gibt es Wolken, und im Norden regnet es manchmal. (Across the rest of Germany it will be cloudy, with occasional rain in the north.)

Exercise 2: Dialogue

Instruction: Read the dialogue and answer the questions.

Hannah ist auf einer Fortbildung in Barcelona, während Tom in Hamburg im Regen sitzt. Abends ruft Tom Hannah an, um zu fragen wie es läuft.

6. Hannah: Ich glaube, es sind 24 Grad und das schon die ganze Woche. (I think it’s 24 degrees and has been all week.)
7. Tom: Das ist eine schöne Temperatur. Bei mir sind es 9 Grad und es regnet. (That’s a nice temperature. Here it’s 9 degrees and it’s raining.)
8. Hannah: Oh nein! Wie lange regnet es schon? (Oh no! How long has it been raining?)
9. Tom: Erst seit gestern. Aber ab morgen scheint wieder die Sonne. (Only since yesterday. But starting tomorrow, the sun will shine again.)
10. Hannah: Ich freue mich auch auf den Winter. Besonders auf Weihnachten. (I’m also looking forward to winter. Especially Christmas.)
11. Tom: Ich auch. Wenn der erste Schnee fällt, wird es schön. (Me too. When the first snow falls, it will be beautiful.)
