In der deutschen Quizshow "Blamieren oder Kassieren" wird ein Mathetrick gezeigt. Mit dem Trick kann man schnell die Zahlen von eins bis 100 addieren
In the German quiz show "Blamieren oder Kassieren," a math trick is demonstrated. With the trick, you can quickly add the numbers from one to 100.

Ich darf heute einen Mathetrick vorstellen, mit dem man schnell die Zahlen von eins bis hundert addieren kann. (Today I am allowed to present a math trick that lets you quickly add the numbers from one to one hundred.)
Den Trick stelle ich jetzt einfach mal vor: Man fängt ganz außen an. (I'll just present the trick now: You start on the outside.)
Man nimmt die zwei äußersten Zahlen und rechnet erst mal eins plus hundert. (You take the two outermost numbers and first calculate one plus one hundred.)
Das ist hundertundeins. (That is one hundred and one.)
Jetzt rutscht man eins nach innen und addiert wieder diese beiden Zahlen. (Now you move one step inward and add these two numbers again.)
Man rechnet zwei plus neunundneunzig, was auch wieder hundertundeins ergibt. (You calculate two plus ninety-nine, which again results in one hundred and one.)
Wir rutschen noch einmal eins nach innen, addieren die beiden Zahlen und erhalten drei plus achtundneunzig, was auch wieder hundertundeins ergibt. (We move one more step inward, add the two numbers, and get three plus ninety-eight, which again results in one hundred and one.)
Wenn ich das so mache, bis ich in der Mitte angekommen bin, dann ist das Letzte, was ich addieren werde, fünfzig plus einundfünfzig. (If I do this until I arrive in the middle, then the last thing I will add is fifty plus fifty-one.)
Das ergibt auch wieder hundertundeins. (That again results in one hundred and one.)

Flohmärkte sind in Deutschland sehr bekannt und finden meistens sonntags statt. Thomas will etwas an Claras Stand kaufen und fragt nach den Preisen.

Flea markets are very well known in Germany and usually take place on Sundays. Thomas wants to buy something at Clara’s stand and asks about the prices.
1. Thomas: Guten Morgen. Wie viel kostet diese Hose? (Good morning. How much do these trousers cost?)
2. Clara: Guten Morgen. Die Hose kostet elf Euro. (Good morning. The trousers cost eleven euros.)
3. Thomas: Kannst du sie für sieben oder acht Euro verkaufen? (Can you sell them for seven or eight euros?)
4. Clara: Zehn Euro. Weniger nicht. (Ten euros. No less.)
5. Thomas: Okay, dann nehme ich die Hose für zehn Euro. Wie viel kostet dieses T‑Shirt? (Okay, then I’ll take the trousers for ten euros. How much does this T-shirt cost?)
6. Clara: Das T‑Shirt kostet fünf Euro. (The T-shirt costs five euros.)
7. Thomas: Einigen wir uns auf drei Euro? (Shall we agree on three euros?)
8. Clara: Vier Euro! (Four euros!)
9. Thomas: Das ist in Ordnung. Zusammen sind das vierzehn Euro. (That’s fine. Altogether that’s fourteen euros.)
