Exercise 1: Word bingo

Instruction: 1. Listen minimum two times to the video and indicate the words you hear. 2. Use the words to form a conversation with your teacher (write down your conversation). 3. Memorize the words with the word trainer.

Exercise 2: Dialogue

Instruction: 1. Read the dialogue in pairs. 2. Memorize the phrases by covering the translation. 3. Cover one speaker’s lines, give alternative answers with your teacher, and write them down.

After a meeting, two colleagues talk about the short working week, discussing the pros and cons.
1. Stefano: Che cosa pensi di quello che ha detto il capo sulla settimana lavorativa corta? (What do you think about what the boss said regarding the short workweek?)
2. Sofia: Ha ragione! Con la settimana corta la produttività diminuisce. (He's right! With the short week, productivity decreases.)
3. Stefano: Io preferisco iniziare il weekend il giovedì pomeriggio, così riposo di più. (I prefer to start the weekend on Thursday afternoon, so I can rest more.)
4. Sofia: Io invece preferisco lavorare fino a venerdì, così lavoro meglio. (I, on the other hand, prefer to work until Friday, that way I work better.)
5. Stefano: In altri paesi la settimana corta funziona, le vendite aumentano. (In other countries, the short week works, sales increase.)
6. Sofia: Eh certo, perché fai il lavoro di cinque giorni in quattro! È troppa pressione. (Of course, because you do five days' work in four! It's too much pressure.)
7. Stefano: Sì, però se il weekend è più lungo, siamo più felici. (Yes, but if the weekend is longer, we are happier.)
8. Sofia: Non so, secondo me non è una buona idea: sabato e domenica sono giusti per il weekend. (I don't know, in my opinion, it's not a good idea: Saturday and Sunday are just right for the weekend.)
9. Stefano: Invece secondo me la settimana corta è una buona idea! (Instead, in my opinion, the short week is a good idea!)
