In un discorso dello scorso agosto aveva parlato dell'idea di ridurre la settimana lavorativa a quattro giorni.	(In a speech last August she had talked about the idea of reducing the workweek to four days.)
A quel tempo non era ancora a capo del governo e ora la proposta non è nel programma.	(At that time she was not yet head of the government and now the proposal is not in the program.)
Non è quindi una possibilità concreta.	(So it is not a concrete possibility.)
Ma la notizia ha acceso il dibattito sull'applicabilità della proposta.	(But the news has sparked debate about the applicability of the proposal.)
Se ne parla anche in altre parti del mondo.	(It's being discussed in other parts of the world too.)
Nel Regno Unito, il Partito Laburista sta studiando la soluzione.	(In the United Kingdom, the Labour Party is studying the solution.)

After a meeting, two colleagues talk about the short workweek

1.	Stefano:	Che cosa pensi di quello che ha detto il capo sulla settimana lavorativa corta?	(What do you think about what the boss said about the short workweek?)
2.	Sofia:	Secondo me ha ragione: con la settimana corta la produttività cala.	(In my opinion he’s right: with the short workweek productivity drops.)
3.	Stefano:	Io preferisco iniziare il weekend da giovedì pomeriggio: così mi riposo di più.	(I prefer to start the weekend from Thursday afternoon: that way I rest more.)
4.	Sofia:	Io invece preferisco lavorare fino a venerdì: così mi sento più produttiva.	(I, on the other hand, prefer to work until Friday: that way I feel more productive.)
5.	Stefano:	In altri paesi la settimana corta funziona: le vendite sono aumentate.	(In other countries the short workweek works: sales have increased.)
6.	Sofia:	Sì, ma fai il lavoro di cinque giorni in quattro: è troppa pressione.	(Yes, but you do five days’ work in four: it’s too much pressure.)
7.	Stefano:	Sì, però se il weekend è più lungo, siamo tutti più felici.	(Yes, but if the weekend is longer, we’re all happier.)
8.	Sofia:	Non lo so. Secondo me non è una buona idea: sabato e domenica vanno bene come weekend.	(I don’t know. In my opinion it’s not a good idea: Saturday and Sunday are fine as a weekend.)
9.	Stefano:	Invece secondo me la settimana corta è una grande idea!	(Instead, in my opinion the short workweek is a great idea!)
