Adjective or adverb? Typical confusion

English uses the same word for some adjectives and adverbs ("fast").

Italian normally uses two different forms:

• Lui è lento. – He is slow. (adjective, describes "lui")
• Lui parla lentamente. – He speaks slowly. (adverb, describes "parla")

Quick check:

• If the word describes what something / someone is → use the adjective (lento, veloce, chiaro…).
