Exercise 1: Match a word

The CSE is offering a “Holidays in France” deal for April and May. You can choose your destination: the coast (Brittany or Normandy), the mountains, or a small town. The offer includes a travel guide and itinerary ideas. Limited budget: €250 per person. Possible activities: swimming (if the weather is good), sunbathing on the beach, or exploring a nature park.

To book, indicate the mode of transport: train, car, or boat (mini-cruise). After the trip, send proof to the partner travel agency for reimbursement. Places are limited, registration before Friday.

I’m looking at ideas for going away in early June. Do you prefer the sea or the mountains? I saw two options:

  • 2 days on the coast near Saint-Malo (beach, walk)
  • a weekend in the calanques near Marseille (swimming, short hike)

Do we go there by train or do we rent a car? And what budget do you have roughly?

Salut Camille,

Je préfère les calanques parce que j’aime me baigner et faire de petites randonnées. La côte près de Saint-Malo a l’air bien aussi, mais je choisis les calanques.

Pour le transport, je propose le train jusqu’à Marseille puis on prend un bus ou un taxi pour les calanques. Côté budget, je peux payer environ 200 € pour le week-end (transport + logement). Si tu veux, je réserve si tu confirmes.

I prefer the calanques because I like swimming and doing short hikes. The coast near Saint-Malo looks nice too, but I’m choosing the calanques.

For transport, I suggest the train to Marseille and then we take a bus or a taxi to the calanques. As for the budget, I can pay about €200 for the weekend (transport + accommodation). If you want, I’ll book if you confirm.
