Drukarka zużywa prąd w trybie czuwania. (The printer uses power in standby mode.)
Nawet kable podłączone do gniazdka mogą pobierać prąd. (Even cords plugged into a socket can draw electricity.)
Przedłużacze też zużywają prąd, jeśli sprzęty są cały czas włączone. (Extension leads also use power if devices are left on continuously.)
Płyta indukcyjna w trybie czuwania pokazuje czerwoną diodę. (The induction hob shows a red light when it is in standby.)
Najlepiej podłączyć urządzenia do listwy zasilającej z wyłącznikiem. (It's best to plug appliances into a power strip with an on/off switch.)
Po wyłączeniu listwy sprzęty nie pobierają prądu i oszczędzasz pieniądze. (If you turn the power strip off, the devices stop drawing electricity and you save money.)

Tomek i Kasia rozmawiają o wysokim rachunku za prąd i oszczędzaniu energii

Tomek and Kasia talk about a high electricity bill and saving energy
1. Tomek: Kochanie, przyszła faktura za prąd… i jest kosmiczna! (Honey, the electricity bill arrived… and it's astronomical!)
2. Kasia: Serio? Ile tym razem? (Really? How much is it this time?)
3. Tomek: Prawie dwa razy więcej niż w marcu! (Almost twice as much as in March!)
4. Kasia: O rany… Nie rozumiem, dlaczego tyle płacimy. Przecież nie zużywamy aż tak dużo. (Oh no… I don't understand why we're paying so much. We don't use that much.)
5. Tomek: Może to przez tę nową suszarkę do ubrań. (Maybe it's because of that new clothes dryer.)
6. Kasia: To niemożliwe. Włączam ją może trzy razy w miesiącu, kiedy nie ma pogody. (That's impossible. I use it maybe three times a month when the weather is bad.)
7. Tomek: Ale w domu mamy dużo podłączonych sprzętów: piekarnik, zmywarka, drukarka… (But we have a lot of appliances plugged in: the oven, the dishwasher, the printer…)
8. Kasia: Są podłączone, ale przecież teraz ich nie używamy. (They're plugged in, but we're not using them right now.)
9. Tomek: Tak, wiem, ale są w trybie czuwania i pobierają prąd. Zobacz, światełko w drukarce cały czas mruga. (Yes, I know, but they're in standby and still draw power. Look, the light on the printer is blinking all the time.)
10. Kasia: Masz rację, ale nie lubię cały czas podłączać i odłączać sprzętów z gniazdka. (You're right, but I don't like having to plug and unplug devices from the socket all the time.)
11. Tomek: A co powiesz na to, żeby kupić dodatkowe listwy z wyłącznikiem? Będzie o wiele prościej. (What about buying extra power strips with switches? That would be much easier.)
12. Kasia: Świetny pomysł! Pilnujmy tego w tym miesiącu i może tak zaoszczędzimy. (Great idea! Let's keep an eye on it this month and maybe we'll save money that way.)
