(In Polish, there is a difference between the verbs lubić and podobać się. Both express likes, but they differ in usage and context.)

  1. We use "lubić" when we talk about things we know and like, to express our preferences.
  2. "Podobać się" refers to something more fleeting, based on appearance, a short-term effect or impression.
  3. To express negation, we use "nie" before the verb: nie lubię, nie podoba mi się.
