Exercise 1: Match a word

Instruction: Match each beginning with its correct ending.

Poproszę bilet do centrum, jeden normalny, proszę. (Could I have a ticket to the city centre, one standard, please.)
Jadę metrem do pracy, bo to najszybszy sposób. (I take the metro to work, because it's the quickest way.)
Autobus odjeżdża za pięć minut z przystanku obok. (The bus leaves in five minutes from the stop next door.)
Wsiadam do tramwaju na następnym przystanku. (I get on the tram at the next stop.)

ZTM Warszawa – informacja dla pasażerów. kupisz w na stacjach i na wielu przystankach. W autobusie i tramwaju możesz kupić bilet w niektórych pojazdach. W metrze bilet jest aktywny od momentu zakupu. W autobusie i tramwaju papierowy bilet trzeba po wejściu.

Jak dojechać na Stare Miasto? Z Dworca Centralnego pojedź w centrum i przy „Plac Bankowy”. Możesz też jechać metrem: na stacji „Centrum”, a potem wysiądź na „Ratusz Arsenał”. jest wygodna, ale zwykle droższa. Samochodem w centrum bywa trudno zaparkować.
ZTM Warsaw – information for passengers. You can buy tickets at ticket machines in metro stations and at many stops. On some buses and trams you can also buy a ticket on board (internal machine). In the metro a ticket is valid from the moment of purchase. On buses and trams a paper ticket must be validated after boarding.

How do you get to the Old Town? From Central Station, take a tram towards the centre and get off at "Plac Bankowy." You can also take the metro: get on at the "Centrum" station and then get off at "Ratusz Arsenał." A taxi is convenient but usually more expensive. Driving into the centre can make parking difficult.

1. Jesteś w biurze. Nowy kolega pyta: „Jak dojechać do biura z centrum?”. Odpowiedz prosto i jasno. (Użyj: tramwaj, autobus, jechać)

(You are in the office. A new colleague asks: “How do I get to the office from the city centre?” Answer simply and clearly. (Use: tram, bus, go))

2. Jesteś na przystanku. Chcesz kupić bilet w automacie i prosisz obcą osobę o pomoc. (Użyj: bilet, kasować, gdzie)

(You are at the stop. You want to buy a ticket from the machine and ask a stranger for help. (Use: ticket, validate, where))

Cześć Marta! Najlepiej jedź metrem. Z Dworca Centralnego idź na stację Metro Centrum i jedź w stronę Ronda ONZ. Bilet kupisz w automacie na stacji lub w aplikacji. W Warszawie papierowy bilet trzeba skasować po wejściu do tramwaju; w metrze bilety są kasowane przy zakupie. Do zobaczenia jutro!
Hi Marta! It’s best to take the metro. From Central Station, go to Metro Centrum and take the train toward Rondo ONZ. You can buy a ticket at a machine on the station or in the app. In Warsaw, paper tickets need to be validated after boarding a tram; on the metro, tickets are validated when you buy them.
