(The imperfective aspect determines the use of the compound future tense.)

  1. There are two ways to form the future tense for imperfective verbs in Polish.
  2. The first way is the combination of the future form of the verb “to be” with the infinitive of an imperfective verb, e.g. będę czekać.
  3. The second method, more commonly used in Polish, is the combination of the future tense of "to be" with the verb in the past tense in the third person (singular or plural).

  1. There are also verbs, such as "chcieć" (to want) and "móc" (to be able to), which form the future tense exclusively by adding their past form to the verb "być" (to be).
