Gracias,
Marta Rojas
Subject: What happened at Tuesday's meeting
Hi Laura,
I'm writing as the community president. At Tuesday's meeting, during the item about the use of the courtyard, a neighbor made a comment that several of us considered discriminatory toward a family in 2.ºB. It created a tense atmosphere and some people felt marginalized.
Could you tell me how you saw it and whether you would be in favor of sending a reminder about our rules for living together and tolerance? If you have any suggestions, I'd like to read them.
Thanks,
Marta Rojas

Laura
Hi Marta,
Thanks for letting me know. I also perceived the comment as discriminatory and I think that, even if it was said without bad intent, it made the family in 2.ºB feel marginalized in front of everyone.
I think it's a good idea to send a brief reminder about our rules for living together and tolerance, focusing on respect during meetings and on the use of common areas. I would also propose that at the next meeting we agree a clear rule: avoid references to someone's origin, financial situation, or any personal characteristic, and that the presidency intervene when that line is crossed.
If you want, I can help draft a short, neutral message for the portal and the email, and prepare a proposal for the next meeting.
Best regards,
Laura
