Exercise 1: Dialogue

Instruction: 1. Read the dialogue in pairs. 2. Memorize the phrases by covering the translation. 3. Cover one speaker’s lines, give alternative answers with your teacher, and write them down.

Un diálogo corto entre el recepcionista y Ana en la recepción de un hotel.

A short dialogue between the receptionist and Ana at the hotel reception.
1. Ana: Hola, ¿me puede indicar dónde está la recepción? (Hello, can you tell me where the reception is?)
2. Recepcionista: Hola, claro, está al fondo a la izquierda. (Hello, of course, it is at the end on the left.)
3. Ana: ¿Tiene ya una habitación reservada? (Do you already have a room reserved?)
4. Recepcionista: No, tengo un problema con el móvil y quiero reservar una habitación con vistas a la Sagrada Familia. ¿Es posible? (No, I have a problem with my mobile and I want to book a room with views of the Sagrada Familia. Is it possible?)
5. Ana: Perfecto, síganme que voy a comprobarlo. (Perfect, follow me and I will check it.)
6. Recepcionista: Sí, tenemos una disponible. ¿Quiere registrarse ahora? (Yes, we have one available. Do you want to check in now?)
7. Ana: ¡Genial! ¿Puedo hacer el check-in ahora mismo? (Great! Can I check in right now?)
8. Recepcionista: Por supuesto, sólo necesito su pasaporte y una tarjeta para la llave. (Of course, I just need your passport and a card for the key.)
9. Ana: Aquí tiene. ¿Podría darme una llave extra para mi compañero? (Here you go. Could you give me an extra key for my companion?)
10. Recepcionista: Lo siento, pero por habitación sólo damos una llave. (I'm sorry, but we only give one key per room.)
11. Ana: Está bien, buscaremos una solución. (That's fine, we will look for a solution.)
12. Recepcionista: Muy bien. Si tiene más preguntas, estoy aquí para ayudarle. (Very well. If you have more questions, I am here to help you.)
13. Ana: ¿A qué hora hay que hacer el check-out mañana? (What time do you have to check out tomorrow?)
14. Recepcionista: El check-out es a las doce del mediodía. (Check-out is at twelve noon.)
15. Ana: ¡Gracias! Ha sido muy amable. (Thank you! You have been very kind.)
