Starting on Monday, the company recommends coming to work using sustainable transport. If you live nearby, you can come by bike: there’s a bike lane all the way to the building and bike parking. If you live farther away, it’s better to travel by train or public transport; that way there’s less traffic on the road. For electric cars, the green area of the garage has charging points.
Last week, Human Resources met with the city council and chose new measures. The company has a tip: try your preferred option for a month and note how long it takes and how much you spend. If you arrive late, it’s not a problem, but let them know. No one should drive into the pedestrian area at the entrance.

Elegir transporte al trabajo
Marta (compañera): Show ¿Has venido en coche hoy, Javier?
(Did you drive to work today, Javier?)
(No, not today. With the green zone, it’s a mess and I can’t find parking.)
Marta (compañera): Show Yo casi siempre monto en bici.
(I almost always bike. There’s a bike lane all the way here, and it’s more eco-friendly.)
(I’m thinking about it, but I’m scared of riding on the road during rush hour.)
Marta (compañera): Show Si quieres, te doy un consejo: prueba primero un día tranquilo, o combina bici y transporte público.
(If you want, I can give you a tip: try it first on a quiet day, or combine biking with public transport.)
Javier (compañero): Show Vale, entonces mañana cojo el tren y después voy andando. Es más sostenible y llego sin estrés.

Hola, Marta.
Hi, Marta. It’s Dani from the team.
Tomorrow we have to go to the office (downtown), and I’m not sure how to get there. In my neighborhood there’s very little parking and there’s always a lot of traffic. I’m thinking of going by public transport (train + metro) or by bike using the bike lane. How do you usually get there? Can you give me some advice?
Useful phrases:
-
Normalmente voy en..., porque hay poco/mucho...
(I usually go by..., because there’s very little/a lot of...)
-
(I prefer..., it’s more sustainable and it takes me quite a while/it doesn’t take long.)
-
(If you want, we can meet at... and go together by...)
Hi, Dani. I usually go by metro because there’s a lot of traffic downtown and there’s almost no parking. Tomorrow I’d rather take public transport: I take the train and then the metro. It takes me much less time than going by car. If you want, we can meet at 8:10 at Atocha station and go together. If the weather’s nice, another day we can go by bike using the bike lane.
