1. Madre: Quando ero giovane, compravo spesso la carne dal macellaio vicino a casa. (When I was young, I often bought meat from the butcher near home.)
2. Figlia: Ah sì? Oggi la carne la compriamo al supermercato che c'è nel centro commerciale. (Oh yeah? Today we buy meat at the supermarket in the shopping mall.)
3. Madre: Sì, oggi nei centri commerciali trovi di tutto: supermercati, negozi d'abbigliamento e negozi di elettronica. (Yes, today in shopping malls you can find everything: supermarkets, clothing stores, and electronics stores.)
4. Figlia: E tu, dove andavi a fare la spesa? (And you, where did you go grocery shopping?)
5. Madre: Andavo in centro città, tesoro. C'erano molti piccoli negozi e conoscevo tutti i commercianti. (I went downtown, sweetheart. There were many small shops and I knew all the shopkeepers.)
