Het is belangrijk om goede vragen te stellen voor je collega en jezelf. (It’s important to ask good questions—for both your colleague and yourself.)
Een open vraag begint met wie, wat, waar, hoe of wanneer. (An open question starts with who, what, where, how, or when.)
Een waarom-vraag is ook een open vraag, maar die kan streng klinken. (A why-question is also an open question, but it can sound more confrontational.)
Bijvoorbeeld: Waarom ben je laat? Dat klinkt strenger dan: Hoe komt het dat je laat bent? (For example: Why are you late? That sounds firmer than: How come you’re late?)
Een gesloten vraag gebruik je om iets te controleren. (You use a closed question to check or confirm something.)
Deze vraag begint met een werkwoord en je kunt meestal met ja of nee antwoorden. (A closed question starts with a verb and you can usually answer it with yes or no.)
Bijvoorbeeld: Heb je het werk al af? (Want more information? Then ask an open question.)
Wil je meer informatie? Stel dan een open vraag. (That way your colleague can share more, and you can listen better.)

Exercise 2: Dialogue

Instruction: Read the dialogue and answer the questions.

Jochem komt voor het eerst in een coworking space, en hij stelt open vragen om meer te leren over hoe alles werkt.

Jochem visits a coworking space for the first time, and he asks open questions to learn more about how everything works.
1. Jochem: Goedemorgen, dit is mijn eerste keer in deze coworkingruimte. (Good morning, this is my first time in this coworking space.)
2. Fenne: Welkom! (Welcome!)

4. Fenne: Ja, hier is uw pasje. (Yes, here is your pass.)

6. Fenne: U moet een werkplek reserveren op de website. (You need to reserve a workspace on the website.)
7. Jochem: Goed, dank u. Wat is het wifi-wachtwoord? (Alright, thank you. What is the Wi-Fi password?)
8. Fenne: Het wachtwoord is COWORKINGSPACE, grote letters, aan elkaar. (The password is COWORKINGSPACE, all uppercase letters, no spaces.)
9. Jochem: Ik begrijp het, bedankt! Werken hier veel mensen? (Got it, thanks! Do many people work here?)
10. Fenne: Ja, meestal werken er 20 tot 30 mensen, vooral freelancers. (Yes, usually 20 to 30 people work here, mostly freelancers.)
11. Jochem: Dat is goed. Dat zijn mijn vragen voor nu, bedankt! (That's good. Those are my questions for now, thank you!)
