Exercise 1: Match a word

Instruction: Match each beginning with its correct ending.

Afgelopen weekend ik met collega’s in eetcafé De Markt. Het licht in het restaurant is en de sfeer is rustig. We hoorden geen muziek, alleen wat van andere tafels. Dat is fijn na een drukke werkdag.

Ik tomatensoep en een kleine salade. De soep was lekker en een beetje . De salade was fris, maar de kaas was erg en iets . Mijn collega nam een toetje. Hij vond zijn toetje dan mijn salade. Ik vond de koffie het : sterk, warm en met een heerlijke geur.
Last weekend I ate with colleagues at eatery De Markt. The light in the restaurant is soft and the atmosphere is calm. We didn’t hear loud music, only some noise from other tables. That is nice after a busy workday.

I ordered tomato soup and a small salad. The soup was nicely salty and a little sour. The salad was fresh, but the cheese was very salty and slightly bitter. My colleague had a sweet dessert. He liked his dessert better than my salad. I liked the coffee best: strong, warm, and with a wonderful aroma.

Exercise 6: Respond to the situation

Instruction: Practice in pairs or with your teacher.

1. Je bent in een restaurant met collega’s. De ober vraagt: “Hoe vindt u het eten?” Antwoord en beschrijf de smaak. (Gebruik: lekker, vies, zoet, zout)

(You are in a restaurant with colleagues. The waiter asks: “How do you like the food?” Answer and describe the taste. (Use: tasty, disgusting, sweet, salty))
